Scholarship Advice for Seniors

Aim High!

Don’t be dissuaded by competition and apply for as many things as possible so you have choices in the end.

Seek Advice!

Make appointments with the Scholarship Coordinator and faculty mentors to discuss the content of your applications.

Make a Schedule

Plan out what you need for each application and when and how you will get it.

Get “Winning” Letters

Ask early! Letters of recommendation must make specific, distinguishing remarks about your scholarly merit. Prepare packages to submit to each letter writer, including your transcript, résumé, research proposal, and copies of your graded papers.

Write Focused Statements

Describe the specific research you intend to do and the skills and experience you have to do it. Make a strong case about the perfect fit of your research interests with the faculty mentors and resources of the school you want to attend.
